Online Course Description
This EDI-IR QUEST allows you to acquire a broad understanding of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenous Reconciliation (EDI-IR) concepts and contextualize them to your own work. Throughout this material, you will be asked not only to explore foundational EDI-IR concepts but also to reflect upon how these concepts apply to your personal and professional self-identity.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this QUEST, you will be able to:
- Describe the basic concepts and principles associated with Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigenous Reconciliation.
- Explore an introduction to the major themes of Human Rights, Bias, Racism, Indigenous Perspectives and Reconciliation, Gender and Sex Bias, and Accessibility.
- Reflect on ways in which these thematic areas impact you and others in your personal and professional contexts.

*The middle section, Thematic Explorations, has six modules that can be completed in any order.
Each section has a series of required and optional tasks and additional resources. You will be able to save and edit your reflections before submission. After submission, you may review and download your reflections but not edit them.
This EDI-IR QUEST was developed in the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenous Reconciliation Advisory Committee (EDI-IR AC). This work was completed by a subcommittee of the EDI-IR AC, with co-leads Drs. Clare Wallner and Anne Wong.

This course is a self-paced and self-directed program on an asynchronous online platform.
Dr. Anne Wong is Professor and Associate Chair of Education in the McMaster University Department of Anesthesia. She also holds a Master of Health Professional Education and PhD in Comparative and International Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto. She has held a number of roles including as past Assistant Dean, Program for Faculty Development at McMaster University, Director of the Faculty of Health Sciences Academic Leadership Program, and Editorial Board Member for the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia. She is a member of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion-Indigenous Reconciliation (EDI-IR) Committee and Co-Chair of the EDI-IR Training and Professional Development Working Subgroup. She was recognised with the 2020 Canadian Association for Medical Education Certificate of Merit Award for her contributions to medical education.

As the registrant, your in-person activity package may include nutritional breaks and/or meals (refer to the program agenda). Therefore, your activity lanyard must be worn throughout the event. If a pre-approved guest accompanies you to the activity, their meals are at their own cost and will be billed directly if applicable.
The University reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient registration or any circumstances that are beyond our control. Cancellations received 14 days prior to the date of the session will be refunded less a 25% administrative fee to a maximum of $50.00. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after this date.
A written acknowledgement of your registration will be sent prior to the activity. Receipts are emailed at the time of registration, and an additional email will be sent after the activity, confirming your certificate of attendance is ready to download or print. Your registration is not complete unless a confirmation is received. If you have not received a confirmation within seven days of registration, please contact the CPD office.
For those with dietary needs for an in-person event, some accommodation may be available. Contact the event coordinator for details.
Keeping with accreditation requirements and the National Standard for Support, McMaster University, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requires all speakers, planning committee members, moderators, facilitators and authors participating in this activity to disclose all relationships with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations over the previous two years. The disclosure must be done in print, verbally, and in writing on a slide prior to the speaker’s presentation.

Candid photos will be taken at in-person activities. Your in-person registration implies your permission for these photos to be used for future promotional material. Individuals in photographs will not be identified. Please visit the registration desk during the activity with any concerns.
Recorded virtual CPD activities will be accessible to participants for a period of 6 months after the event, contingent upon the speaker’s approval. Please be aware that only attendees who log in or actively participate in the virtual event will qualify to receive a certificate of attendance for CME credits. *Not all virtual events are recorded.

Certificates of attendance and receipts for CPD conferences are available after the event. Please allow roughly 5 business days. Certificates are posted in your registration profile under “my conferences” at xcdsystem.com/mcmasterchse.
