Target Audience
The target audience is all healthcare professionals who provide care for burn patients. This includes but is not limited to:
- Nursing
- Occupational and Physical Therapy
- Social Work
- Psychology/Psychiatry
- Physicians (Clinical and Research)
- Trainees (Medical Students and Residents)
- Respiratory Therapy
- Dietitians
- Speech-Language Pathologists
- Researchers
Learning Objectives
By attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- Implement advancements in their own clinical practice for both adult and pediatric burn patients.
- Collaborate with other burn care providers in the comprehensive care of burn patients, with a better understanding of each team member’s role.
- Appraise high-quality burn care research and apply relevant findings to clinical practice.
- Recognize the physical and psychological challenges burn survivors face during their acute care and after discharge.
Accreditation Statement
The Continuing Professional Development Office (CPD) at McMaster University is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide CFPC Mainpro+ and RCPSC Maintenance of Certification (MOC) study credits for Continuing Medical Education.
This activity is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Continuing Professional Development Office (CPD) at McMaster University. You may claim a maximum of 11.5 MOC Section 1 hours. Credits are automatically calculated.
Through an agreement between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert Royal College MOC credits to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
