Registration is open for the McMaster International Review Course in Internal Medicine
The popular McMaster International Review Course in Internal Medicine (MIRCIM) is being held both virtually and in-person in Krakow, Poland from May 11-13, with free registration for McMaster University community members.
Now in its eighth year, MIRCIM is designed to present the latest clinical guidelines, help health-care professionals hone practical skills in nine group workshops and inspire their future academic and research careers with lectures from 30 international experts. Attendees can attend either virtually or in person at the ICE Conference Centre in Krakow.
The conference provides updates and state-of-the-art reviews and best practice guidelines for frontline clinicians, from managing tuberculosis in a patient with diabetes to proper cardiac arrest management.

“MIRCIM aims to provide up-to-date knowledge and best practice recommendations for any health-care professor training or specializing in internal medicine. The conference, organized with international partner institutions and organizations, helps cement McMaster University’s status as a global leader in learning and innovation.”
MIRCIM was developed by the Department of Medicine at McMaster and the Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine. It is organized in collaboration with the European Federation of Internal Medicine, the International Society of Internal Medicine, the Jagiellonian University Medical College with support from the American College of Physicians and in partnership with more than 40 national societies of internal medicine from around the world.
The program was developed to present a comprehensive yet concise overview of the current medical landscape, with the most practical topics discussed by authors of international guidelines and clinician-researchers. The lectures, known for their informational content and grounded in the principles of evidence-based medicine pioneered at McMaster, offer clearly formulated take-home messages for clinicians.
Young internists at the beginning of their career can also take part in the Best Case Report Contest, with money prizes awarded for the best submissions. During oral and poster sessions, participants will have a chance to discuss their findings with members of an international jury. Abstracts will be published in the Polish Archives in Internal Medicine.
Speakers from McMaster at MIRCIM 2023 include Paul O’Byrne, James Douketis, Julian Dobranowski, Harriette Van Spall, Imran Satia, Ally Prebtani, Madeline Verhovsek, Mark Loeb, Paul Moayyedi, Joanna Dionne, Mohannad Abu-Hilal and Maggie Larché.
Other speakers this year are from Britain, Germany, Poland, Spain, India, Pakistan and the United States.
